Wonderful guest from Normandy

We had the pleasure of the company of Max from Pourville, France, for 8 days. Everyone who met him liked him very much. Many people pitched in to make sure he had a great experience.

Here are some photos of Max and his new friends.

ARTHUR AND PAUL

Max enjoyed hanging out with my grandsons, Arthur and Paul.

(They, of course, always spoke French together. It was amazing how well all three of them spoke French. I was so impressed!)

In the photo above they are playing Dungeons and Dragons. Arthur, of course, is the Supreme Dungeon Master.

MARCELLO, CHRISTIAN, AND COLIN

Bertucci's

Max went to Bertucci's for a pizza with my son Marcello and his boys Christian and Colin and their cousins Arthur and Paul.

Lunch on Apache Street

Marcello and Christian came over to hang out with Max and stayed for lunch.

PERRY, CHIPO, AND FLORENCE

Pizza Game Night

We invited my godson Perry and his mother and brother Chipo for a Pizza Game Night.

The table is set.

We ordered three large pizzas from Bertucci's: one Margherita, one mushroom and olives, and one pepperoni.

Max and Chipo played the game that Arthur created. He made the board out of foam.

While Max and Chipo were playing Arthur's game, Perry, Florence, and Christine played Sorry!

Swim Meet

Florence invited Max to go to the pool with her and the boys to swim and to participate in a relay.

Snow Cone Shindig

Perry invited Max to be his guest at this event where the kids listened to music, ate snowcones, and shot basketballs.

DECLAN AND HIS SUPER-MOM KIM

Natural History Museum

I took Max and his friend Declan to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. We enjoyed our visit and focused on the Dinosaurs and the Gems. Max said he took about 100 photos there. I hope he sends me some of them!

We ate lunch in the museum's cafeteria. Max chose a lunch with a hamburger in the middle and a variety of other things with it. I could not figure out what the other things were. Bacon? Cheese? What else??? Declan had a hamburger. I had an asparagus and cheese quiche.

We went to the gift shop. I got two T-shirts, a bag of gems, and some postcards for Max. (I hope he sends me photos of him wearing the shirts so that I can post them here.) For a thank-you present for Declan, who was such a great host, I got him two puzzles and something else (can't remember).

The Duck

Kim took Max and Declan, along with some other kids, on a tour of Washington, DC on the amphibious duck.

The Baseball Game

Kim and Eric took Max and Declan to a major league baseball game at Nats Park. I think this was a highlight for Max even though our team lost. Boo hoo!!

We had a nice lunch together at the Carlyle in Shirlington. We always have lots to talk about!
