Janet Oak

Our church book discussion group had read and enjoyed Janet Oakley's The Jossing Affair. We were all delighted when she came to town and was willing to meet with us.

We began with a delicious potluck lunch outside by the pool and we then went inside to listen to Janet talk about her research and to answer questions. A wonderful afternoon!

Old Friends at the Big 60th

Kim, Denny's daughter, and I flew out to Minneapolis together. We went immediately to check out the house that we had found through AirB&B. We loved it!

We had two more roommates, Nancy from NYC and Elizabeth from Seattle. Coincidentally, all four of us were Lyceum Presenters!

The first night we hosted a dinner party. Kirky, Kathy, Kay, and Judy brought the food and drinks and we provided the venue. Fair enough!!

The final reunion event was the Banquet Dinner. We fortunately were able to sit with our special friends: Kathy, Kirky, Kay, Bill W, and John K.

Dahl's Boy

The Reading Circle of Our Sons of Norway lodge met at the home of member Christine Meloni on June 18th to discuss Alex Dahl's The Boy at the Door.

Front row: Richard, Lynn, Barbara, John; Last row: Marie, Jolene, Christine, Joel, David

The stimulating discussion was preceded by a delicious potluck. What particularly excited the Norwegian Americans was the appearance of not just one but two rhubarb desserts! Both were, of course, delicious.

Laura, John's daughter, prepared small bites of rhubarb and strawberry pastries while Marie prepared rhubarb crumble.

Italian Lunch and Lesson

I met my Milanese friend Antonella for lunch at Roti on the GW campus. After a nice lunch and chat (in Italian, of course), we walked over to Casa Italiana and I sat in on her interesting Italian class.
