Cedar Rapids, Iowa - Washington H.S. Reunion

Although I did not graduate from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, I decided to attend their 50th reunion. I am glad I did! I found several old friends.

I lived in Cedar Rapids in this house. It was a split level and I had the entire second floor to myself!

I attended Franklin High School (now a junior high only) for 8th, 9th, and 10th grades.

After 10th grade, my class was going to move to the brand-new high school, Washington High. I didn't make this move because my family moved back to Minneapolis.

Highlights from Washburn Reunion in Minneapolis

My 50th High School Class Reunion will remain one of the most incredible memories of my life! It was a four-day affair with lots of opportunities to share with dear old friends. I can't begin to describe the activities in this space so I will just post some special photos.

Hidden Pond Nature Center

Hidden Pond

Andrea and I took our grandsons to visit Hidden Pond Nature Center.

Colin, the family naturalist, especially liked the Nature Center exhibits.

Christian preferred the out-of-doors.

The boys were very impressed with Uncle Adriano's famous Eagle Scout erosion project.

Both boys enjoyed the playground.

Potenza, DC's New Italian Restaurant

Our Dinner Club dined at a new Italian restaurant in town, Potenza. The service was excellent; the ambiance was pleasant; the food was good but not great. The company, of course, was the best!

Jodi and Mary

Mary had gnocchi.

Jodi and Christine had campanelle.

Amici Italiani di Fairfax: Picnic

Carlo and Betsy were the hosts for the end-of-the-summer picnic that our Italian meet-up enjoyed on a gorgeous afternoon in August.

We finished the delightful afternoon with cannolis.

Wolf Trap: Lord of the Rings

One of my favorite books is the Lord of the Rings trilogy. One of my favorite movies is Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.

What a spectacular treat! My sister and I went to Wolf Trap on a rainy Saturday night to view the film Lord of the Rings: Two Towers with a live orchestra and chorus.

Before the performance, we enjoyed a delicious and leisurely dinner at Ovations. I had the vegetable plate. Snooks had the crab cakes.

It continued to rain on and off all evening. We were grateful that we didn't have lawn seats although those who had them did not seem to have dampened spirits.

We were both very satisfied with our outing on all accounts.

Museum of American History

This is Christian's favorite museum in DC.
He likes the Price of Freedom exhibit the best.
Colin likes this museum, too.
