Amici Italiani di Fairfax: Picnic

Carlo and Betsy were the hosts for the end-of-the-summer picnic that our Italian meet-up enjoyed on a gorgeous afternoon in August.

We finished the delightful afternoon with cannolis.

Wolf Trap: Lord of the Rings

One of my favorite books is the Lord of the Rings trilogy. One of my favorite movies is Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.


What a spectacular treat! My sister and I went to Wolf Trap on a rainy Saturday night to view the film Lord of the Rings: Two Towers with a live orchestra and chorus.

Before the performance, we enjoyed a delicious and leisurely dinner at Ovations. I had the vegetable plate. Snooks had the crab cakes.



It continued to rain on and off all evening. We were grateful that we didn't have lawn seats although those who had them did not seem to have dampened spirits.


We were both very satisfied with our outing on all accounts.

Meeting in Annapolis

I met my friend Robin at Carrol's Creek Cafe in Annapolis. We enjoyed our lunch in a charming location on a warm summer day.

Museum of American History

This is Christian's favorite museum in DC.
He likes the Price of Freedom exhibit the best.

Washington By Night

Washington is a monumental city and most monuments should be seen both during the day and at night. They are particularly suggestive at night. We visited the World War II Memorial on a lovely summer evening.

We also visited the Korean War Memorial.
