We finally celebrated Christmas with Marcello and the boys. We had had to postpone our Christmas Day celebration because Andrea was sick. So - better late than never!

Solveig Zempel, granddaughter of the well-known author of Giants in the Earth and other novels about Norwegian emigration to America, made a very interesting presentation about O.E. Rolvaag at the January meeting of the Salmon Club in DC (Lakselaget DC).

Holiday Exhibition at the US Botanical Garden

Andrea and I went to the Botanical Garden to see a special holiday exhibition in the Garden Court. Several of Washington's most important buildings and memorials had been created in wood and set among beautiful displays of flowers and greens.

After visiting this delightful exhibit (and a few other places such as the Orchid Exhibit), Andrea took me to Aladdin's in Burke for a delicious Mediterranean lunch.
